We are talking the Great Commission and calling with a PK who grew up running around the seminaries in Rio de Janeiro and Louisville. So how was is it that Pastor Joe Souza ended up planting Brazilian-bilingual churches in Boston? Good question.
Here's a better one: how did he go on to have a legacy impact on church planting across a region that once hosted the First Great Awakening — and that by the early 2000s had become one of the least evangelical places in the U.S.?
Let's find out how Souza set out to change all that. As a pastor and church planter. As a catalyst with the North American Mission Board. And currently as Associate Executive Director with the Baptist Churches of New England, and founder of the Celebration Church Planting Network in Brazil.
We are blessed to call him pastor, mentor and friend, and blessed to welcome him to this episode. Thanks for listening.

He is a Georgia native who moved to Seminary in his late twenties. But, not because he thought he'd ever be a pastor. Well, God had a different idea, and today, like 12 years later Dr. Jimmy Steele is a 3-time graduate of that seminary and a pastor, church planter, and church planting leader among Southern Baptists in San Diego, and Nationally as part of the Pillar Network, based in Raleigh, NC.
And he didn't just plant a new church, he planted that new church with a core-team that had to move their whole families, their whole lives to California to be part of a revitalization of an old, declining church. And by God's grace, they lived to tell about here.
Jimmy is married to Julie. They have four kids, and a thriving church family called the Hill Church in the hills of La Mesa in greater San Diego.

God pulled him out a garbage can, literally. He was just a new-born when the Lord used a pastor / missionary and his wife to rescue him, and to adopt him as their own. His name is Lielson Penido, and his very life is a picture of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
And, he wouldn't have it any other way.
Brazilian-born, he grew up on the mission fields of Ecuador, finished school in the US and served later with the IMB as a missionary in Spain and Portugal.
More recently he is a church planter, who also serves as a chaplain and a catalyst with the Tampa Bay Baptist Association.
And we are blessed to call him friend, and to have him as our guest on this episode.

So what do consultants and project managers do anyway? Especially in this era of exploding technology?
Let's find out from our guest, Aaron Williamson, a business owner based in Tampa FL, where he and his partner are helping large organizations all over the world develop systems, solve problems, achieve goals and do it all with an eye on the bottom line.
Only the bottom line for Aaron is Jesus. So much so, he named the business Cornerstone. Cornerstone Project Management.
And we are grateful to have Aaron on for the first time today as a cornerstone partner for GCP and a major sponsor for this pilot season of GC Talk, where we want to answer the question, what can missionaries and the church leaders learn from a guy who is running his business for Christ?
Let's ask him ourselves.

He grew up in Nepal with 33 million Hindu gods. Little g, false gods. At age 20, he met Jesus Christ, the One True God. And that changed everything for him.
His name is Dr. Dan Pokharel, and he is a pastor, church planter, missionary, and the executive director of Global Mission Nepal based in Charlotte, NC.
More recently he founded the National Baptist Convention of Nepal as the first denominational organization of its kind in country that only received the Gospel of Christ in the 1950s.
It was fifty years later, in the early 2000s that Dan came to US as a young Christian to study and prepare for ministry, thinking he would go back to Nepal. But God had other ideas, and Pastor Dan has been planting Nepali-speaking churches in Texas, in Boston and New England, Charlotte and Nepal ever since.
In fact, since 2013, he has led Global Mission Nepal to plant 167 churches across the entire country. And he is only getting started.

He heard the Great Commission as a command. So he just did what Jesus said: "Go, therefore, and make disciples."
And for Dr. Bob Magruder, he's been doing it for 40 years since, as a pastor in just about every role you can imagine, and now, in a new role as the full-time Executive Director of Multiplying Culture Ministries. He is co-author of Multiplying: Creating a Culture of Disciple-Makers, which he wrote with his wife Barbie. He is a discipleship coach. He is a mentor for leaders who want to make disciples.
He is also discipling men. Always has. Whether that's one-one-one or in small groups, it has been the experience gained through those groups that has provided the inspiration for the book, and a desire to share what he's learned with others.

He is a church planter. So, he packed his wife and kids in the minivan and moved to New England to plant a church in 1994 and he never left.
In fact, God used Dr. Terry Dorsett and his family to plant multiple churches in Vermont. They went on to lead the Green Mountain Baptist association. They relocated again to plant churches in Connecticut, and eventually, they followed a call in 2015 to move again, this time, to lead the Baptist Convention in New England (the BCNE) — which is the state convention encompassing all six New England states.
They called a church planter to lead the convention. And in 11 years now, Dr. Dorsett has a number of notable accomplishments, one in fact, involved changing the name of the convention to the Baptist Churches of New England. But, that is not all that's changed. Under Dr. Dorsett's tenure, Southern Baptists in New England have seen amazing results in church planting, and baptisms, and giving, and growth. All for God's glory.
All because a church planter who said at the time that he was not qualified, but called. And, he trusted God to help him figure it out. Today, his team is as diverse as the culture, and they continue to pray for another Great Awakening to come soon to New England.

Pastor Hilario Polanco couldn't adopt just one kid, so he adopted the whole neighborhood. Well, not exactly, but what he did to create a safe, Gospel-centered before-school / after-school place for kids has transformed hundreds of lives and families, and the whole town for Christ. From Bible camps, and games, to martial arts, music and violin lessons, Voando Alto (The Flying High Foundation) is a Brazilian NGO with an all-volunteer staff that provides supplies and resources, food and health care, and most of all, a loving environment where kids from mostly poor, single-parent homes can grow.Ongoing and future projects include an on-site dental clinic, and finishing up construction of a gym and job-skills center that will double as a neighborhood community center and a launching pad for microbusinesses.Show Supporters: Dallas 1 Construction and Development, Tampa, FL — d1cd.com

God told him to start a business that puts Jesus first. So he did.
Of course, being from Illinois and starting a business in Tampa, he named it Dallas 1 Construction. And 40 years later Bart Azzarelli Jr's business is a $30M-a-year company with the mission of "Serving Christ through Construction."
He plastered Proverbs 3:5-6 on every truck and trailer. He started Bible studies and shared Christ with his employees, operating Dallas 1 according to Biblical principles.
And he did it with the help of other Christian CEOs meeting together monthly to equip each other in the faith, and in the day-to-day of running a company for Jesus. And as a result, hundreds have to Christ though the business-ministry of Dallas 1.
